Our Story
Impact Outreach Worship Center (IOWC) was birthed from a vision given by God and brought to life through the faith and obedience of Pastor Amanda Daggs. From humble beginnings in a home on Homestead Avenue, to sharing fellowship spaces, and even continuing worship online through challenging seasons — IOWC has remained steadfast in its mission:
To love people to life, prepare Kingdom men, women, and children for purpose, and impact the Kingdom of God without limits. IOWC is more than a church — it’s a family of believers committed to worship, outreach, unity, and love.
Ephesians 4:16 "From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth…”
Pastor Amanda Daggs
Pastor Amanda Daggs is a licensed and ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She is the fourth of five children born to Henry and Betty Daggs. Growing up under the leadership of the late Milton Byrd Sr. at Messiah Baptist Church, she began singing at an early age, pantomiming, which is now praise dancing, and participating in church pageants. Then the Holy Ghost and someone, her mother’s friend Gloria Artist, invited them to visit United Bibleway Temple. Here she experienced a life-changing event under the leadership of then Pastor Elder Linwood Stokes Sr.
The choir at UBT was different; the people were different. There was an electrifying presence that flowed through the sanctuary of UBT, which she later realized was God’s presence in the Holy Ghost. It came upon, in, and around her at the age of 10, one Sunday night, forty-five years ago. She was filled with that presence, and it totally changed her inside and out.
There were some hits and misses along the way, but God was still with her. He lived up to His word that says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” found in scripture, though she prefers Hebrews 13:5. After having her oldest daughter, she strayed away. She and Carlos had two more children, sons, and now she was young with two small children. As time went on, Amanda and Carlos parted ways, but with three children and seven grandchildren between them, they remain forever friends.
God directed Amanda to True Vine Church of Jesus in 2001, where Pastors Sheldon, now Overseer, and Scharrod Wills serve as the undershepherds. Faces that were familiar, but also an anointed ministry. Here, God raised Amanda to be gifted in more than one area: Usher Board President, Youth Leader, Choir Director, Evangelist, Associate Minister, and at times playing the piano and drums. Everything was a gift from God, and she recognized it.
Obedient to God and her leaders, she began preaching, teaching Sunday school, leading Bible study, and carrying out worship even when her Pastors weren’t present. The church continued on just like it always had. Her Pastor/Overseer Sheldon Wills poured into her until she recognized the call God had for her and was released from that fellowship by God in December 2016.
In 2017, she inherited a congregation of people, not knowing how or what to do, but trusting God with it all. In 2018, Impact Outreach Worship Center, which had already been a vision for years, was birthed. It started with church in a house on Homestead Avenue and later moved to Build America Drive, where IOWC shared a building with another fellowship. Things happened that were no fault of her own, but that did not stop IOWC’s mission of spreading the gospel. They went to Zoom and continued teaching, preaching, and fellowshipping with other baptized believers of Christ and even those who were seeking God.
Having some degrees and certifications, but knowing that they mean nothing without God, Amanda prefers that people know the God she serves, not the titles or degrees she holds, because without the oil of God, they mean nothing. If you are looking for a word of encouragement, a smile, a wave, or even a hug, you can find Amanda sharing the love of God in a unique way as only she can, whether as a crossing guard for the Hampton Police Department at Clemwood and Apollo or Victoria and Algonquin, Monday through Friday, if you live or work in Hampton, Virginia.
She believes that when God calls and you answer, He handles it all! Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This scripture will forever be her reminder of God’s power working in her.
